Krasnow Institute Parking Options

Parking at George Mason University is by permit only and monitored 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Visitors to the Institute may park in any of the three parking decks noted on the map below.  Parking rates in each location are $3.00 for each hour up to a maximum of $15.00/day.  The closest deck to the Krasnow building is the Shenandoah deck (previously Sandy Creek).

There are also two 30-minute loading/unloading spaces in Lot D outside of the Krasnow building and a small lot across Shenandoah River Lane with additional 30-minute loading/unloading spaces.   No permit is needed for these 30-min spaces.  Times are strictly enforced.

 Visitor Payment Methods

  • The Mason Pond Parking Deck accepts Mason Money, MasterCard, Visa, prepaid validations and cash.  For a quicker exit there, there are also three pay-on-foot machines  on Levels 3, 2 & 1 which accept MasterCard, Visa and prepaid validations only.
  • The Shenandoah Parking Deck accepts MasterCard, Visa, prepaid validations and cash.  For a quicker exit there are also two pay-on-foot machines on Level 1 which accept MasterCard, Visa, prepaid validations and cash.
  • The Rappahannock River Parking Deck Pay-by-Space machines are located next to the elevators and accept MasterCard, Visa, prepaid validation codes and exact parking fee cash (these machines do not provide change). ParkMobile payments are also accepted.

 Instructions for Shenandoah Parking Deck

Enter on Level 1, which is the first left off Sandy Creek Way.  (All exit lanes are on the York River Rd side of parking deck)
$3.00/hour; $15/day maximum

Note: This is an automated facility.  Information/ help is available via intercom.

Instructions: Obtain a parking ticket when you enter the deck and keep the parking ticket with you. When you leave–
—take your ticket by foot to one of the pay machines by the elevators on levels one and three of the parking deck. Insert your ticket in the pay machine. Pay with either cash or credit card. Retrieve your parking ticket. Once you pay you will have fifteen minutes to exit the deck. To activate the gate insert your parking ticket into the ticket machine at the exit gate and the gate will open.
