Neuro Imaging Core of the Krasnow Institute (NICKI)

George Mason University

Online Calendar and Reservations

Funded studies will be given precedent over pilot studies.  Pilot studies will compensate the MRI Technologist’s salary at an hourly rate for scanning time.

Please note that requests for regular scanning time slots will be accepted only for existing funded, NICKI-approved studies with current HSRB (Human Subjects Research Board) approval from George Mason University.  If a PI is not a GMU faculty member, they must also have IRB approval from their home institution.  Pilot and unfunded studies (including approved studies whose funding has run out for this year) will not be assigned regular scanning times, but may request open slots.

When requesting scanner time, the Principal Investigator will be asked to provide the following information for billing purposes:

Once your study has been approved by NICKI, you will be added to the list of users who can access the Krasnow MRI Schedule.

To view the MRI schedule, please access the Krasnow MRI Calendar. To schedule a scanning time, please contact the MR Technologist, Marci Moe, BSRT(R)(CV)(MR) at 703-993-1894 or mmoe2@gmu.edu. If time permits, same day scheduling is an option.

A weekly QA will be run by the MR Technologist and the results posted to this site. The most recent data may be found here. Please e-mail Joey Carls, Krasnow Sr. Coordinator of Operations, if you are having a problem accessing this data from the link provided.

Cancellation Procedure

If you are unable to use your scheduled time slot, you will not be billed for that time provided you cancel at least 24 hours in advance. You must cancel your time by contacting the MRI Technologist (Email: mmoe2@gmu.edu Phone: 703-993-1894). You will be billed for the entire block of time reserved if you fail to cancel 24 hours prior to your slot. This policy includes any slots taken in addition to your regularly scheduled slots.

The only exceptions to the above are last minute emergencies and you should call or email to notify the MRI Technologist. Please make every effort to keep these incidents to a minimum by calling your subjects to confirm their appointments and making sure that they know when and where to report for the study, and how they can reach you at any time.

DO NOT give your time slot to another group if you are not going to use it. Cancelled time slots will be reassigned by the technical staff who maintain a prioritized waiting list (which includes commitments to Siemens, pulse programmers, or to groups who have lost slots due to repairs or upgrades). Please confirm any changes with the MRI Technologist.
