COLLOQUIUM ON "NEURAL SIGNALING" The Inaugural Arthur M. Sackler Colloquium of the National Academy of Sciences entitled "Neural Signaling", will be held Friday through Saturday, February 16-17, 2001 at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. This Colloquium is being co-organized by Solomon H. Snyder and Richard L. Huganir. Recent advances in molecular neuroscience have revealed links in signaling mechanisms between and within cells in systems as diverse as neurotransmission, olfaction and nerve growth. This colloquium will bring together leaders who will integrate a panorama of signaling systems ranging from elementary synaptic events to Alzheimer's Disease and drug addiction. The colloquium sessions will cover the following topics: 1. Inter- and Intracellular Signaling in the Nervous System Pietro DeCamilli(Yale), Richard L. Huganir (Johns Hopkins), Roger Nicoll (UCSF), Moo Ming Poo (UC-San Diego) 2. Inter- and Intracellular Signaling in the Nervous System (continued) Lily Jan (UCSF), Michael Greenberg (Harvard), Paul Greengard (Rockefeller), Cori Bargmann (UCSF) 3. Signaling in the Developing Nervous System Richard Axel (Columbia), Marc Tessier-Lavigne (UCSF), Corey Goodman (UC-Berkeley), Carla Schatz (Harvard) 4. Drugs and Disease and Signaling in the Nervous System Eric Nestler (Yale), Marc Caron (Duke), Dennis Choi (Washington U.), Dennis Selkoe (Harvard) We hope that you will be able to attend this two-day meeting. Attendance at the colloquium is limited to 250 registered participants. Please share this invitation with graduate students, postdocs, and others. The reduced registration fee of $150, which is available until December 1, 2000, for general participants covers the meeting, breakfast, lunch, dinner and breaks, and transportation to and from the hotel. In addition, the Colloquium will include a poster session open to registrants. For additional information (final program, registration form, poster information, and travel/hotel information), please visit our colloquium web site. http://national-academies.org/nas/colloquia Thank you in advance for your assistance.
