The Potomac Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience is seeking applications for the Society's
NEW AWARD TO HELP CHAPTERS BRING OUTSTANDING GRADUATE STUDENTS TO THE ANNUAL MEETING.

The Society for Neuroscience Chapters Graduate Student Travel Awards will provide $500 in travel expenses plus meeting registration fees to honor outstanding graduate students nominated by their local chapters.

Based on scientific merit, The Potomac Chapter will select a single candidate from the pool of applicants, and will submit the nomination to the SFN Chapters Committee. The SFN will make the final decision by chosing a winner among the Nominees of all Chapters. The Potomac nominee must be a graduate student from an academic institution within the greater Washington DC area, advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D, who is first author on an abstract to be presented at the Annual Meeting.

Applications to the Potomac Chapter should include: (1) Abstract submitted to SFN, (2) Two-page CV of the applicant, and (3) Recommendation letter from the student's advisor.

In order to receive consideration, applications must be received by May 15th, 2000. The Potomac Nominee will be notified by June 1, 2000.  Final SFN winners will be notified by September, 2000.
